Needles: Addi Turbos, US 4 (3.5mm)
A couple weeks ago, I finally got my act together and seamed this guy together, after claiming I would do so about two months ago. And now, I finally got my act together and took pictures of the finished item.
I have to re-think some bits of the pattern for the yoga mat bag version. I was hoping to make this project beginner-friendly and right now there’s a lot of very fiddly seaming and sewing.
I’m pretty pleased with the finished item, though. I used D-rings and 1″ strapping for more durability, and it’ll make transporting a poster to my next conference a heckuva lot easier.

I was at a friend’s housewarming party last weekend and conversation got around to my knitting. The gist of the conversation is this:
Friend: How’s the Mongolian sweater?
Me: It’s done! But in pieces.
Friend: What are you knitting next?
Me: A hat, I think. I need a hat.
Friend: You…haven’t already knit a hat?
Now, I have knit hats. I knit a hat for a friend. I’ve made a couple baby hats. I even made a hat for me, but it wound up in the charity pile because I underestimated the size of my head.
Upon hearing that I had not, in fact, ever knit myself a hat I would wear, my friend remarked “the shoemaker goes without shoes!” and proceeded to tell me a story about Sue Johanson of the Sunday Night Sex Show, her husband, and shoemakers going without shoes.
It’s true, sadly. Despite being from Wisconsin, land of the Frozen Tundra (Minnesotans and Canadians and everyone else living north of the Frozen Tundra can feel free to snicker here), I need a hat, a point that was driven home today by a 20-degree drop in the temperature.

…I would have written in Dolores Van Hoofen on my ballot, because I hate it when candidates run unopposed. A cigarette-smoking, sex-fiend lush of a sheep would be better than some of the clowns we have now.
In other news, happy 2nd knitaversary to me! I think. It might have been yesterday. Anyways, two years ago today (or yesterday), I sat down with a pair of knitting needles and cast on for the first time. And then twenty more times after that, until my knitting instructor decided that we’d practiced enough so we wouldn’t forget after we got home. I learned how to make a knit stitch, started a blue garter-stitch scarf, and the rest is history.
