Quick Update

June 16th, 2007 | View Comments

I just wanted to pop in and say thank you for all the kind words, positive thoughts, and prayers that you guys sent towards me and my family. They must be working, because the latest news from the doctor is that several of my dad’s tumors are shrinking! Yay!

On the knitting front, it’s getting to that point in summer when I pretty much stop knitting because…HOT. I live in a stuffy attic apartment with three large west-facing windows and two well-meaning but highly insufficient air conditioning units. My options for staying cool are basically: live at the office, which has been taken over by hostile, mutant lemons, or sit as still as possible, as far from wool as possible, and try not to sweat too much.

I will post progress photos as there is meaningful progress, but I will also be taking this opportunity to finally post reviews of some of the many, many knitting books I have acquired over the last year. Stay tuned!

I’m so happy to hear good news. Still sending you good thoughts.

Maybe a solution to avoiding wool is knitting with cotton?

I’m glad to hear that your father’s health is improving. That’s good news indeed for father’s day. I’ll continue to send good thoughts and prayers that the tumors keep shrinking.

That’s so good to hear. Personal experience tells me that having a family member (especially someone so close) come down with cancer is one of the worst things a family can go through. Many hugs and well wishes for you and your family.

    Hi!
Have you tried putting cardboard or foil in the windows, along with heavy curtains/blankets hung to block the heat that comes in? It looks trashy, but it helps to keep it much cooler inside. I’m from Texas, so I can sympathize. :(
In the summer every window except the livingroom’s gets ‘foiled up’, and we hang extra sheets/blankets up. I’d rather have people laugh than to sweat all day!
