Don't be misled by Sew Fast/Sew Easy!
New York-based sewing company Sew Fast/Sew Easy claims to have originated the term "Stitch and Bitch" and is trying to prevent knitters who do not wish to be affiliated with Sew Fast/Sew Easy from using the term, alleging infringement of their trademark for "Stitch and Bitch Cafe".
I created this database of references to "stitch and bitch" groups that pre-date Sew Fast/Sew Easy's claimed first use in order to demonstrate the following:
- Sew Fast/Sew Easy did NOT coin the term "stitch and bitch"
- "Stitch and bitch" has long been used as a descriptive term for needlecrafting groups, and thus it should be considered fair use when knitting groups use the term for their online communities
Currently, there are
64 references to "stitch and bitch" in the database.
