About

Name: Yvonne
Age: 27

I learned to knit in November 2004. I took an intro knitting class at a local yarn shop, and then starting knitting furiously, turning to books and online fora every time I got stuck.

My first project was an asymmetrical garter stitch scarf in Plymouth Encore. It was intentionally asymmetrical in terms of color, accidentally asymmetrical in terms of shape. My tension tightened up considerably as I knitted, so that the bind-off end is about an inch and a half narrower than the cast-on end.

If you couldn’t tell from the site name and logo, I am a shameless psychology/neuroscience nerd. Here’s a dissection of the logo, for the non-neurologically inclined:

I’m a PhD student in cognitive psychology. Compared to the years or decades-long timelines of most research projects, knitting is an exercise in instant gratification. I can see actual results in weeks, if not days!

I write about the rest of my life at Thought Bubbles.
